The employee is responsible for providing hygienic care and assigned procedures for assigned patients based on age-specific needs. They are also responsible, for assisting nursing staff in the preparation of patients before and after surgery to facilitate age-specific patient care. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Assists with new admissions by taking vital signs, obtains weights, and puts gown on patients, places telemetry patches, and leads patients when appropriate.
Assists with discharging patients by taking vital signs, obtaining drinks/ice and/or snack for patients, assisting patients to dress, and discontinuing IV as directed by the assigned nurses.
Obtains and records patient Vital Signs per unit specification.
Performs responsibilities as related to the safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
Answers telephone and appropriate pages and relays information to appropriate team members.
Removes dirty equipment from discharged rooms.
Keeps rooms tidy and free of clutter.
Sets up rooms for new admissions.
Answers call lights.
Uses AIDET at all times.
Communicates pertinent information to the nurse or charge nurse.
Performs related responsibilities as assigned or required.
Maintains POSITIVE HELPFUL ATTITUDE.
Recognizes the value of continued occupational growth and development.
Restocks all designated supply areas as indicated on a daily basis.
Identifies and transports patients throughout the perioperative process (PAU, PACU, and PSU).
Performs and/or assists with surgical preps as needed.
Assists in perioperative positioning and lifting of patients as required or directed.
Responds to patient emergencies (CPR) in order to be available to collect specimens as needed.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
If an employee has less than the forgoing level of education and employed in good standing in this position prior to this date no further education is required to maintain employment.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position.
Preferred, but maybe trained by qualified personnel on the unit.
