Responsible for performing receptionist, clerical and transcriptionist duties related to the Sleep Disorders Center. Under the general supervision of the Sleep Disorders Center Manager, responsible for clerical, receptionist and transcriptionist duties on a designated shift as scheduled. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Assembles patient charts; maintains charts, stamps and adds forms, posts lab, x – ray and other related reports, dismantles charts, forwards paperwork to appropriate areas for processing, as well as to physicians and home health companies.
Answers telephone and appropriate pages and relays information to appropriate team members.
Transcribes and/or takes by phone physicians orders, completes related forms, schedules procedures via computer and/or manual process, adds forms related to procedure to chart and notifies licensed personnel.
Acts as a receptionist for the unit provide information and assistance for all hospital personnel, physicians, patient’s vendors and the general public.
Calls insurance companies to obtain pre-certs and/or pre-determined on sleep studies.
Records, compiles, process and complete monthly statistical information on a routine basis.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort.
High school diploma or equivalent
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Clerical experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred, but not required.
Clerical training preferred, but not required.
