Responsible for performing and reporting assigned laboratory tests in a prompt, efficient, and accurate manner in an assigned area of the laboratory. Must possess Clinical Lab Science degree certified by ASCP or equivalent as a Technologist. Under the direct supervision of the manager, supervisor or coordinator responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled.
Will consider CLS and MLT I, II, and III
Four 10 hour shifts, 8:30pm - 7:00am
Performs and determines the accuracy of routine and special laboratory tests in designated sections of the laboratory.
Evaluates and reports test results as instructed by test procedure or section procedure.
Performs, calculates, analyzes, interprets, and record valid results.
Prepare reagents, quality control, and calibrators according to established criteria and evaluate results of quality control and implements corrective action when indicated.
Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains any clinical laboratory instrument or equipment.
Document and maintains records or preventive maintenance, and troubleshoots and takes appropriate steps to resolve malfunctions on assigned instruments.
Inventories, recommends and submits orders, receives and stores supplies for assigned area.
Instructs students and assists in the orientation and evaluation of new personnel as assigned.
Obtains specimens from patients for laboratory procedures.
Contributes to the positive work climate and overall team effort of the department.
Meets mandatory continuing education hours as required by the State of Tennessee and other mandatory in-services, training, proficiencies, and competencies.
Professional/Technical continuing education (independent study) of not less than 12 CE hours annually (as required by State of Tennessee licensure).
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Skills and proficiency in the technical field of clinical laboratory science. Such proficiency is usually acquired through completion of a clinical lab science program in an ASCP accredited school or the equivalent. B.S. or B.A. Degree (Degree must meet ASCP/NCA requirements).
MT/CLS (ASCP) General or equivalent.
Maintain licensure by completing continuing education as required by State.
Personnel should possess a level of knowledge through education, training, and or experience to perform technical duties.
