Understands the concept of Preventive Maintenance. Demonstrates knowledge of codes and standards, guidelines and test procedures that are used to verify performance.
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repairs various medical and non-medical equipment using various pieces of test equipment in the Biomed Department.
Ensures that all medical equipment is included in the inventory with proper documentation and data integrity.
Demonstrates the ability to contain cost for service and repair of medical equipment.
Understands the importance of documenting maintenance history of medical equipment. Completes documentation for schedules and unscheduled work performed.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use it effectively in a clinical setting.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical equipment and has a basic understanding of its use in the medical environment.
Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to assist with staff training in the case of user errors. Provides technical and clinical support.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
Demonstrates a cooperative attitude. Displays a willingness to accept new tasks. Requires little supervision and is a self-starter performing routine tasks with only minimal direction.
Maintains a clean work area. Uses designated locations to store spare parts, incoming and outgoing parts and equipment. Uses “tags” to identify equipment / parts status.
Promptly orders spare parts and when required ensure parts are return to vendor (i.e., exchange parts, cores, etc.
Demonstrates knowledge of QA processes, is able to identify QA issues, provides and implements corrective action plan.
Maintains a good relationship with co-workers in Plant services and Biomed. Displays willingness to assist co-workers with assigned tasks.
Performs related duties as directed.
Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or military medical repair specialist school or equivalent training and experience preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid driver’s license
Previous experience in Biomed preferred. Desirable characteristics include 0 -2 years of
industry experience or military setting with electronics or electrical background. Field
service maintenance with a medical equipment maintenance vendor is also acceptable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Previously demonstrated high proficiency in all job functions of a Biomed Tech III.
Requires the ability to read, see and hear to collect, comprehend, interpret and retain information that can be applied to work procedures.
Performs highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, its
application to a variety of situations, as well as exercise of independent judgment.
Must have the ability to perform complex mathematical and technological processes.
Must be able to write, spell, understand and apply rules of grammar and punctuation,
and to edit and supervise his/her own work.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
