Responsible for providing optimal patient care, addressing age specific needs, in the assigned single operating room in scrub and/or circulating capacity. Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical cooridnator repsonsible for providing total patient care, addressing age specific needs and directing other nursing employees in a single operating room unit on an assigned shift as scheduled full time or part time. Current RN license as approved for practice in the State of Tennessee. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

Apply the nursing process by planning for assigned procedures to achieve optimal patient outcome, addressing age specific needs, in a safe, comfortable environment.
Demonstrates responsibility for effective room utilization.
Identifies the patient properly, assesses patient condition, and checks the completeness of the chart.
Anticipates the needs of and provides assistance to members of the surgical team.
Reassesses patient throughout procedures; reports abnormalities or instabilities to Anesthesia, physicians, and/or floor.
Insures that proper techniques and practices are maintained.
Ensures completeness of introperative record.
Insures correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
Scrubs on cases as assigned.
Demonstrates knowledge of changing trends in nursing and policies and procedures.
Demonstrates accountability for maintaining competency within the performance description, and participates in ongoing education activities relevant to professional issues and trends in peri-operative nursing practice.
Demonstrates initiative by using time productively when not assigned to specific other
May assist surgeon in operating room as needed.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
EDUCATION:
Completion of an associate, diploma, or baccalaureate degree in nursing.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Current licensure as a registered nurse as approved for practice in the State of

EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, surgical procedures, instruments and equipment; ability to scrub and circulate during surgical cases as acquired through six to eight months of orientation.
